If you want to remember a landscape and have others share in that wonderful experience with you, then you need to know how to take a great panorama shot. They're the perfect way to showcase a broad view with beautiful detail. Here are a few tips to make sure you get the shot right.

First, you need to set your camera up in a good position. This means you have good angles on everything you want your panorama to include, and it also means a tripod, because chances are, your hands aren't steady enough to create that perfectly even shot.

You'll have to update your settings a little bit, too. Adjust for lighting and environmental conditions. Not all panoramas are the same. This usually means selecting the landscape option on your camera and making sure to turn off the flash - a flash can't do anything but hurt a panorama shot, either by forcing light in the wrong places or by slowing down your shots.

When you begin taking the photos, you need to take them quickly. Make sure your camera has a setting that allows you to take shot in quick succession; you won't have time to wait for it to auto-focus before moving on to your next shot!

While you're taking fast photos, you also need to take them close together. They should overlap as much as possible, as long as you're still turning the camera to get the full panorama.

That rotation is key. You should move at a steady rate, while you take your photos quickly and in rapid succession, so that you cover the entire arc that you want included in your panorama. You should keep the camera even this entire time, which is why a tripod is great, but if you don't have one, just do your best to hold the camera steady. Minor adjustments and cropping can be done later.

When you're finished taking the photos, bring them home and put them on your computer. Then, you can use photo-editing software to piece them all together into one beautiful panoramic shot. Photoshop is often considered the best, but it isn't free, so read some reviews and figure out which software is best for what you can afford. There are also some cameras that will do all of the photo editing work for you.
